Said to carry the power of the sun, Citrine is energizing, warm, and stimulating. Believed to awaken creativity, imagination, and aides in manifesting ones's goals and dreams. With it's pure happy energy, Citrine encourages the expansion of life; imagine the sun shining on a small plant providing the energy it needs to grow. Some think it has the ability to transform negative energy into positive.
Folk lore tells us that it has been called the 'Merchant's Stone' as many believed in it's properties of prosperity. In some cultures merchants will place a citrine stone near a cash register or check out area to attract abundance and prosperity. It is also said that it encourages generosity, good luck, and sharing with others.
Interesting fact: genuine citrine stones are actually very light in color, not so much the vivid color we're used to seeing. Naturally formed citrine are rare and sometimes very expensive. The majority of Citrine's on the market have been heat treated to make them more vivid yellow. Are these still genuine stones? Yes, yes, they are. The heat treatment mimics the process the earth would have done. The chemical structure is the same as that of a lighter naturally occurring citrine, it's just now more sunny yellow.
Is all that true?
I have researched these stones, and to the best of my ability share with you what I believe to be the most accurate information. We can verify much of the science such as chemical make-ups, interactions, and practical uses, but beyond that I can only share the recorded history regarding believed spiritual attributes associated with the stones.
I believe humans are drawn to rocks, crystals and gemstones because they are made up of some of the very same minerals that are in our own bodies. They are elemental, naturally beautiful and we connect with them on some basic level, even if that level is just that we think they're gorgeous and unique. They have been incorporated into every culture and civilization throughout the earth's history.
Personally, I love learning the history of these stones, how they were used, what people believed they could do, and where they were found in the world. I think their crystalline structures, chemical make-ups, and how they are formed within the earth is truly magical, but beyond that I just love looking at them and have a hunch you do too. So let's just enjoy them, don't over think it.
