Rose Quartz has been coined the 'Heart Stone'. It has been used to attract love, romance, and friendships. It has a calming and tranquil color which can have an immediate positive impact.
Rose Quartz is made out of silicon dioxide, (SiO2) also known as silica, this naturally occurring compound is made of two of the earth’s most abundant materials: silicon (Si) and oxygen (O2).
Silicon dioxide is found naturally in our own bodies, in plants, water, animals, and the obviously in the earth itself. In fact the crust of the earth is 59% silica. (Yeah, so 59% of the earth's crust is made out of a stone humans have associated with love. We think that's kind of cool.)
Most gemstone and crystal need to be kept out of sunlight, but Rose Quartz is one of the rare stones that will not fade and is very stable.
People have found Rose Quartz to be a calming and reassuring crystal, it is a wonderful stone to gift someone who is experiencing a difficult situation. It is soothing to look at and t's gentle color can reminds us of unconditional love. There are some who believe using Rose Quartz in the workplace supports harmony, communication, and kindness.
Is all that true?
I have researched these stones, and to the best of my ability share with you what I believe to be the most accurate information. We can verify much of the science such as chemical make-ups, interactions, and practical uses, but beyond that I can only share the recorded history regarding believed spiritual attributes associated with the stones.
I believe humans are drawn to rocks, crystals and gemstones because they are made up of some of the very same minerals that are in our own bodies. They are elemental, naturally beautiful and we connect with them on some basic level, even if that level is just that we think they're gorgeous and unique. They have been incorporated into every culture and civilization throughout the earth's history.
Personally, I love learning the history of these stones, how they were used, what people believed they could do, and where they were found in the world. I think their crystalline structures, chemical make-ups, and how they are formed within the earth is truly magical, but beyond that I just love looking at them and have a hunch you do too. So let's just enjoy them, don't over think it.
